The Eastern Landlords Association has submitted formal representations following Great Yarmouth Borough Council's decision to revise its proposed Selective Licensing licence conditions.
While the ELA welcomes the Council's decision to amend a number of licence conditions following recent legal developments, important questions remain regarding the proposed property inspection programme, the legal basis for routine inspections, the inclusion of inspection costs within licence fees, and the implementation of new licensing regulations coming into force on 1 October 2026.
The ELA remains committed to ensuring that licensing schemes operate fairly, proportionately, and within the powers granted by Parliament, whilst continuing to support high standards across the private rented sector.
We look forward to receiving the Council's response and will continue to keep members informed of any developments.
