Legal Revisions Weakened Basis for Great Yarmouth Licensing Scheme, Warns ELA

Following the Fletcher v Portsmouth decision, Eastern Landlords Association argues the removal of key conditions leaves the scheme without a clear regulatory purpose.


Formal representation letter submitted by James Crickmore, General Manager and Vice Chair of the Eastern Landlords Association, to Great Yarmouth Borough Council. The document argues that following legal revisions in light of Fletcher v Portsmouth, the removal of discretionary licence conditions severely weakens the justification for the selective licensing scheme, routine property inspections, and current fee structures.
